Sustainable Landscape designs and installation:
Native landscape designs create beautiful yards and gardens that invite birds and butterflies, reduce maintenance, and save resources. Since native plants are well adapted to local conditions, they require less care and intervention than most exotics. They coevolved with our native wildlife, allowing us to design landscapes to attract the species you most desire. Use the time that you save in maintenance to enjoy the beauty of you garden.
Our approach is naturalistic garden planting, working with rather than against plants based on their natural inclinations. We place the plants where nature would best have them. Naturalistic gardening allows us to create an atmosphere of living space in your yard.
Butterfly Garden – Monarch Butterfly Garden: Designed to attract butterflies, this garden includes a variety of nectar plants that are very appealing to butterflies. We also include “host plants” that provide food for caterpillars of different species of butterflies, including the Monarch. Gardens can be certified by the North American Butterfly Association’s Butterfly Gardening & Habitat Program and the National Wildlife Federation’s Backyard Habitat Program.
Low Prairie Garden (Deer resistant – optional). The creation of a low prairie of wildflowers and native grasses is a beautiful, low maintenance way to reduce lawn, conserve water, and attract butterflies and birds. If deer are a problem in your yard, this landscape can be developed with deer-resistant plants.
Rain Garden: A rain garden captures rainwater that otherwise would run off into storm sewers. The moist soil creates the perfect habitat for beautiful wetland wildflowers while allowing the water to soak into the soil and recharge the water table.
Hummingbird Garden: The garden is designed to provide a season-long bloom of flowers that feed hummingbirds.
My favorite Flower Garden: This is a mix of colorful perennial wildflowers that will be magnets to attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and other birds to your yard.
Bird Garden: The plants selected for this garden will supply food for birds and create a haven for our feathered friends. A basic birdbath is included, with the option to upgrade the birdbath for an additional charge.
Healing Garden: This garden features a large variety of herbs and plants that historically have been used for their medicinal properties and aroma.
Deer Resistant Buster Garden: As a natural way to limit deer damage, we have a selection of attractive native flowers and plants that deer do not like.
Raised Bed Vegetable Gardens: We also design vegetable gardens (raised beds). We customize the design according to the needs of our customer, including landscaping and architecture of the house. Please see below two pictures of a raised bed vegetable garden created for a customer in Upper Mountain, Montclair, NJ.

We design gardens for dry, medium, or moist soils. All the packages include garden layout, planting, and materials. Dimensions start from 60 sq ft (approximately). The gardens are organic, using no pesticides or chemicals.
Most of these landscape designs can be certified by the National Wildlife Federation as “Backyard Wildlife Habitats.” If you live in Montclair, your certification will help the township of Montclair achieve certification as a “Community Wildlife Habitat.” For more information about the Montclair Backyard Habitat Project, please visit their website at: www.montclairwildlife.com
